​The Indian Institutes of Technology (iit) are among India’s premier engineering institutions, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various engineering and technology disciplines. Admission to the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programs at these institutes is highly competitive and is primarily based on the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced).

IIT Seat Matrix 2025: Expected Seat Distribution & Latest Updates

The IIT Seat Matrix 2025 will soon be released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). This seat matrix provides a detailed breakdown of the total seats available for admission in the upcoming academic year across all Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

For 2025, the expected total number of seats offered by the IITs stands at 10,575, distributed among various categories as follows:

• Open Category – 6,260
• Open-PwD – 336
• GEN-EWS – 1,526
• GEN-EWS-PwD – 75
• SC (Scheduled Caste) – 2,304
• SC-PwD – 125
• ST (Scheduled Tribe) – 1,161
• ST-PwD – 61
• OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer) – 4,165
• OBC-NCL-PwD – 219

IIT with the Highest Seat Intake

Among all IITs, IIT Kharagpur is expected to offer the highest number of seats, totaling 1,341.

Course-wise Seat Distribution
