NIT Seat Matrix Explained: Category Seats, Home State Quota & Counseling Process

The NIT  admission process is conducted through the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) Counseling based on JEE Main 2025 ranks. Here’s a complete step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process smoothly:

✅ Step 1: JoSAA  Registration

• Visit JOSSA Website
• Complete registration using:
  
  • JEE Main application number
  • Password and security pin
• Fill in personal, academic, and category details accurately.

🕒 Important: JoSAA registration typically starts in June/July right after JEE Advanced results.

✅ Step 2: Choice Filling & Locking

• Select GFTIs, NITs, IIITs, IITs as per your preference.
• Important factors to consider:
  
  • Branch preference
  • GFTI location
  • Last year’s cutoff trends
  • Home State/Other State quota advantage
• Lock choices before the deadline. Choices once locked cannot be changed.

✅ Step 3: Seat Allotment Rounds

• JoSAA conducts 6 rounds of seat allotment based on your rank and choices.
• After allotment, check your status and download the provisional allotment letter.
