MBBS admissions in UP for government and private medical colleges are conducted through the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) score. The process is managed by the Directorate of Medical Education and Training, UP.

Eligibility

• NEET Qualification: Candidates must qualify NEET-UG with the minimum required percentile (general category – 50th percentile, SC/ST/OBC – 40th percentile).
• Domicile Requirement: For state quota seats, candidates must be domiciled in Uttar Pradesh. However, non-domicile candidates can apply for private college seats under the management quota.
• Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 17 years old. The upper age limit is subject to NEET-UG regulations.

MBBS Admission in UP Counselling Procedure

1. Registration

• For MBBS admission in UP Candidates must register on the official website of the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, UP (often upneet.gov.in).
• Pay the counseling fee, which may vary depending on the category and type of institution (government or private).

2. Document Verification

• After successful registration, candidates undergo document verification at designated centers.
• Necessary documents include a NEET scorecard, admit card, mark sheets, caste certificates (if applicable), and domicile certificates.

3. Choice Filling and Locking

• Candidates must choose and rank their preferred medical colleges and courses.
• It’s essential to carefully review and lock choices before submission, as choices are binding for that round.

4. Seat Allotment

• Based on NEET scores, category, and preferences, seats are allotted. The results are published online.
• Candidates must download their allotment letters if they are selected.

5. Reporting to the Allotted College

• Those allotted a seat need to report to the respective college with all original documents and pay the admission fees within the specified time.

6. Subsequent Rounds of Counseling

• If a candidate isn’t satisfied with their allotted seat or didn’t secure one, they may participate in subsequent rounds, including the mop-up round for any vacant seats.
